About Huntington Beach SUP
What is This Site About?
♦ Surfing on a wave worthy SUP in Huntington Beach California. Aka, Surf City USA.
♦ This site has content on things like how to SUP Surf, videos and images of some amazing SUP Surf action going down by some amazing SUP surfers, info on SUP surf gear, product reviews on gear we have used, videos on dolphins taken from GoPros, sting rays on GoPro, etc., as well as video clips taken from the SurfLine HB Cams or from a GoPro, and sometimes both views of the same ride.
♦ That with other interesting surf related content, such as info on the next Rip Curl Warehouse Sale, or on sharks in South County, jumping out of the water at Lower’s, on video, with Slater in the water. May not be in HB, but that is good stuff, so I put it on the site. You can find it on our Sharks page.
♦ So if you surf, and especially if you SUP Surf, well then there will be content on here for you as well. Info on the Rip Curl Warehouse sale can save you money on surf gear, money you can spend on, well…., more surf gear.
This site is about having a blast while SUP Surfing in HB, about getting out there, getting out of your mind, getting wet, and refreshing both your body and spirit. Burns a lot of calories too.
About SUP Surfing
♦ It is said that SUP Surfing, the way we currently know it, riding a high-performance wave specific SUP, originated around the year 2004 some have said. Now whether that is true or not does not really matter. What matters is that SUP Surfing has been a viable sport on professional gear for coming up on two decades. I wish I was doing this in 2004. But I was closed minded.
- In the 1940s Waikiki surf instructors Duke Kahanamoku and Leroy and Bobby AhChoy began SUP as a way to stand on their boards during incoming swells, known as beach board surfing. [2] In the 1990s SUP was taught at Hawaiian surf schools as an alternative way to surf when there was little swell.

♦ I SUP Surf on an Infinity SUP RNB. I used to ride their short boards, so when I needed a wave worthy SUP, and I saw what they are doing down in South County, I tried one of their boards, loved it and bought it.
♦ Infinity Surf Shop, on PCH, facing Northside of the Pier, Tower #2.
♦ Custom Infinity Quad, 1984. Took all of my high-school graduation money to buy this. I had three or four of their custom boards. This was my favorite.
♦ Huntington Beach Surf theater on 5th street. Surf Theatre, 121 5th Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
